PRIVACY POLICY · VERSION 1.1 · EFFECTIVE 4 OCTOBER 2026
Privacy, plainly.
This website is operated by Redditech Pty Ltd (trading as Redditech), ABN 14 642 167 477, Queensland, Australia. This policy explains what we collect when you visit battleblocks.app, why, who processes it for us, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights. Questions and requests go to privacy@battleblocks.app.
What you can do without giving us anything
You can read every page, including the devlog, without registering, subscribing, connecting a wallet or accepting optional measurement. Declining optional categories never restricts content. Until public launch the whole site sits behind a hosting sign-in wall operated by Vercel, which is listed in the cookie inventory.
What we collect and why
- Technical request data. Our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser information and the URL you requested in order to deliver and protect the site. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure website. These logs are kept for Vercel's standard retention for request logs, currently measured in days, not months.
- Newsletter address, only if you ask. Newsletter signup is not yet open to the public: at this version the form accepts only addresses the operator has allow-listed for testing. When it opens, and if you enter your email address, we store it together with the time of your request and a note that you asked to be told about a build, and we send one confirmation email. We use the address only to send you the BattleBlocks AI newsletter and build updates, and to tell you when a build is available to try. The build updates are posts on our devlog; the ones we mark as issues are emailed to subscribers who had confirmed before the issue came out, and the first one is also sent to anyone who confirms in its first week. Nothing further is sent unless you press the confirmation button; we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw with the one-click unsubscribe link in every issue. Subscription is never required to read the site or, later, to play.
- Your privacy preference. Your choice for the optional categories is saved in your browser under the key
battleblocks.preview.consent(version 4). It never leaves your browser. - Optional measurement, only after you turn it on. Nothing is collected before you choose. Two categories exist and each is a separate choice. Acquisition measurement records, for the page you land on, the approved campaign labels in the link that brought you (such as the source, medium and campaign) and the name of the referring site. Product analytics records which pages you view, when you click a link to another site, which sign-up steps you reach, and which posts and clips you open or finish, using a random anonymous ID kept in this browser. Both are processed by PostHog (United States). PostHog works out an approximate location (country and city) from your IP address and then discards the address. The rest of the address bar's query string, your email address, anything you type and your screen are never recorded, and session recording, autocapture and advertising pixels are not used. Withdrawing a category stops collection straight away and removes PostHog's identifiers from your browser. Events already received are kept by PostHog for up to seven years, its retention period for our plan.
Who processes data for us
We use the following processors under their standard terms. Some of them operate outside Australia, so your data may be transferred overseas to the regions named here.
- Vercel Inc.. Hosts the website and its serverless functions and stores newsletter records in Vercel Blob storage. Region: United States (Washington, D.C. region). Data: Technical request data such as IP address, browser information and requested URL in short-lived server logs; newsletter records.
- Resend. Sends confirmation emails and newsletter issues on our behalf, through Amazon Simple Email Service. Region: Sending observed from Amazon's Tokyo region; Resend's own infrastructure is in the United States. Data: Recipient email address, message content and delivery events.
- PostHog. Product analytics and acquisition measurement, only after you turn a category on. Region: United States (PostHog US Cloud). Data: Only after you allow a category: page paths, approved campaign labels, the referring site's name, clicks on links to other sites and which site they lead to, which sign-up steps you reach (never what you type), which devlog posts you open and read to the end, which clips you start and finish, a random anonymous browser ID and a visit ID, your browser, operating system, device type and screen size, and your IP address, which PostHog uses to work out an approximate location (country and city) and then discards rather than stores, without your email address; no session recording, no screen capture and no advertising use.
Links to other services (for example the Colosseum hackathon pages or GitHub) leave this website and are governed by those services' policies.
How long we keep newsletter records
These are the retention periods we have committed to. The scheduled deletion that enforces them is switched on before the newsletter opens to the public; until then deletion happens on request, and the only records held are the operator's own test addresses.
- An address that is never confirmed is deleted 7 days after the last confirmation email.
- A confirmed subscription is kept until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days.
- After you unsubscribe we keep only a one-way hash of the address, not the address itself, so that an old confirmation link can never re-subscribe you.
- You can ask us to delete your address at any time, before or after confirmation, at privacy@battleblocks.app; we do that by hand within the same 30-day response window.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and complain about how we have handled it. Write to privacy@battleblocks.app; we respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. If you live elsewhere, you may have additional rights under your local law, and the same address is the place to exercise them.
Children
The site and newsletter are intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger; if you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
This is version 1.1, effective 4 October 2026. When a change affects what we collect or who processes it, we publish a new version here with its date and, where it concerns optional measurement, ask for your preference again.
